First launch and your workspace
MarkCluster keeps every note as a Markdown file in one folder of your choice — your workspace.
Your workspace
On the first launch MarkCluster uses the work folder in your Documents folder and opens a short Getting started with MarkCluster note.
Every .md file inside the workspace — including subfolders — is loaded and searchable. The folder tree on the left is simply the folders on your disk.
Choose another folder
- 1Open ⚙ Settings (Ctrl+,).
- 2Under Workspace, pick the folder that holds your notes.
- 3MarkCluster reads it right away. Nothing is copied or converted.
Already have Markdown notes?Point the workspace at that folder. MarkCluster keeps any front matter it doesn't know, so notes stay compatible with Obsidian, static site generators and git.
Start from the command line
$ markcluster path/to/note.md
$ markcluster -s "meeting notes"
$ markcluster -w ~/notes
The first opens a note, the second starts with search results, the third switches the workspace just for this session.
