What happens when the free trial ends?
Your notes stay exactly where they are. You can still open, read, search, print and export them; editing and AI need a license. Enter your key at any time and everything is unlocked immediately.
Can I use one license on my Mac and my Windows PC?
Yes. A license is for one person on up to three computers, on any mix of Windows, macOS and Linux.
How do I move my license to a new computer?
Open the License window and choose “Remove license from this computer”, then enter the same key on the new one. If the old computer is gone, just activate the new one — the key works offline.
Does MarkCluster need an internet connection?
No. Notes are local files and the license is checked on your computer. Only the optional AI features talk to the provider you configure (Anthropic or OpenAI).
Is AI included in the price?
The AI features are included, but the AI itself is provided by Anthropic or OpenAI and isn't part of the price. Use your own API key (billed by the provider). If you already use the official Claude Code or Codex CLI, MarkCluster can also work through it, under the terms and usage limits of your account with that provider. Providers can change what their plans cover, so we can't guarantee that a particular plan will keep working with MarkCluster.
What about future versions?
All 1.x updates are free. A future 2.0 may be a paid upgrade; your 1.x license keeps working with 1.x forever. MarkCluster 1.x gets security updates until at least 31 December 2031.

Who will I see on my bank statement? Can I get an invoice?
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com, who is the merchant of record and handles payment, sales tax/VAT and invoices. Your statement will show PADDLE.NET* MARKCLUSTER or similar.
I bought MarkCluster but didn't get my key.
The key is emailed within a few minutes. Check your spam folder, then write to [email protected] with your order number and we'll resend it.
